Question: Ron what is the difference between Team roping and Ranch roping? Cindy
Answer: Cindy The big difference between Ranch roping and Team roping is that Team roping is basically an arena sport while Ranch roping is sometimes held as a team competition in an arena it is basically the roping done on ranches in North America where doctoring and branding of cattle has been done since the eighteen hundreds. Where Team roping is positioning of the horse to facilitate the best shot for heading and then heeling the animal. Ranch roping has a large series of different roping shots that are used for the different positions. In other words in ranch roping you don't set up the perfect shot, but rather take the shot that is presented by the animal using different shots for the different positions for both heading and heeling, and often much longer shots. In ranch situations the job is done quietly and efficiently while keeping as much stress as possible off the animal.
