The only breed of sheep in the world that can feed four lambs, properly, at the same time. They are Excellent for Meat and Wool, Milk, and Mothering. Best all around ewes for meat, milk, wool and generally raising top quality lambs. Efficent lambs that grade good and go to market early. Reigning in a class far above all others. Greater at raising their lambs than any other breeds of sheep Exceptional quality in meat, milk and wool. Named universally to be the greatest breed of sheep ever. Prolificacy: the prolificacy of the Bergen Ewes is not extremely high at the time of this printing. However, because hormonal shots can alter this, we have not felt this to be, at the very top of our extremely cluttered priority list. Longevity: We have on record some ten and twelve year old ewes that were still lambing twins and triplets and raising them to weaning. Docility: All of our ewes must be docile and easy to handle. Universal Acceptance: Cows have four teats and normally have a single calf. Other breeds of sheep have two teats and twins are the norm' with many breeders striving for three, four and even five lambs. With the cost of milk replacer and the time consuming job of hand raising lambs a ewe that can completely raise three to four lambs to weaning is a very valuable animal in the industry. These sheep are not for everybody. However, they will excel in the most common flocks in North America and Britain today. They would not work efficiently in the large range flocks in the West where one lamb is normal and two lambs or more are a nuisance. Any time prolificacy is increased so is vigilance and labor if one intends to profit by these extra offspring.
